A rough day

A friend of mine retained my services as an interim IT hands-on guy, I spent the day doing prepwork for a fairly complicated server move happening later this week. Today was spent fixing old, dusty, crappy desktop PCs (configuring printers, running Windows Update, learning too much about an ancient copy of Notes) ordering phone lines, [...]

Suchadeal…

Ilford XP2 400 black and white film, $2.89 for a 36 exposure roll at Adorama. Even with 3-day shipping, if I buy 5 or more rolls, it’s cheaper than buying locally. While I’m ordering from there, I might want to upgrade my AE-1’s strap to the Canon Professional strap I bought for my Rebel. [...]

How did I become that guy?

I remember seeing people running in the rain and thinking that they were crazy in the head.
I’m one of those guys, now. I typically take a day of the week to go down to my parents’ house with my son, let him hang with his grandparents, and I sneak out for a run. Unfortunately, yesterday [...]

I also bought a Canon Speedlite 133a. It’s a little limited, but [...]

What’s the deal…

With petroleum company credit unions? ChevronTexaco wants an an analyst with experience with high-end network hardware, HPUX AND AIX experience, Windows 2000, experience with network security, and required knowledge of firewalls and routing.
They want the usual experience with high-end storage - Veritas volume manager, Brocade switches, specific SAN experience, and NetBackup experience. What’s funny is [...]

blerf!

I loaded Outlook 2003 for testing and to familiarize myself with it - a client of mine is using 2003 exclusively, and I need to be up to speed on the differences. I didn’t like the UI and the fact that it’s 400 megabytes (it’s bigger than all of Office XP!) so I uninstalled it, [...]
