Back to the past

People who know me know me in meatspace know my phone phreak/phone guy roots - I goofed around in the scene in the late 80s, ran a BBS in the 90s, and ran phone systems full-time from 1991 until 1997 and part-time since then.
I bought a Northern Telecom Option 11c (I refuse to go along [...]

r0xing the uptime…

kweiske@rubicon:~$ uptime
15:45:32 up 104 days, 22:42, 1 user, load average: 1.04, 1.01, 1.00

This is my Debian box that replaced my Red Hat 9.0 box that replaced my Red Hat 7.3 box that replaced my BBS. Not too bad for being in a garage on home power, home network, in a garage server [...]

Greetings from officeland!

If you are an American citizen living overseas, you may have a hard time getting absentee voter information from this administration.
In a decision that could affect Americans abroad who are not yet registered to vote in the Nov. 2 presidential election, the Pentagon has begun restricting international access to the official Web site [...]

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul…

I’m listening to the new Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy streams — the Tertiary phase. It’s great hearing the old voices again. They all sound 25 years older, which is understandable.
They’ve made a nice homage to Simon Jones, the original voice of “The Book”. They claim to have added new voice circuits, and mixed the [...]

SpamAssassin r0x

I had some problems upgrading SpamAssassin on my system. I was running 2.6 from Debian’s distro, and tried upgrading with apt-get. For some reason, it didn’t work - I couldn’t find spamc or sa-learn.
I loaded SA from CPAN, and I’m up and running now.
I was *amazed* at the number of SPAMs that SA normally [...]
