I got called in to work today; two high-visibility systems both had RAID arrays offline. Both systems had been in production for some time and had been working perfectly. Both systems are back in operation now after forcing the RAID elements back online and doing a consistency check. Both systems also happened to have fallen off of service before I joined the company.

One of these systems is their principal file server. <shudders>

Luckily, I’m now debugging two coincidentally working systems when I could have been dealing with two dead production servers.

I have my work cut out for me, just in getting all of my new company’s ducks in a row; actual work notwithstanding.
