Chattin!

I’ve been playing with IM at work, we use several commercial services for interoffice comms and have been toying with the idea of setting up our own server. We can get a license for Live Communications Server, which I want to set up later next year, but have a need for a quick and dirty solution NOW.

I’ve got an open-source Windows Jabber server running, and we set a test group up with GAIM 1.50. I’m starting to get the hang of GAIM, and like it a little more than Trillian, my past favorite client. Trillian looks better, but their jabber support isn’t free.

Jabber looks promising - SSL support, clustering, multiple server architecture - maybe LCS might not get the nod after all…

Hey
I was trying to get to your smc barricade files here:
http://www.kataan.org/barricade/files/
But it looks like you moved some stuff around. Do you still have the firmware collection for this old workhorse?
Thanks

I’ll do a search - I’ve since given my 7004BR to my father, who’s been using it for 6 months now without a reboot. Amazing little boxes! send me your email address and I’ll let you know if/when I find them.
