Chattin!
I’ve been playing with IM at work, we use several commercial services for interoffice comms and have been toying with the idea of setting up our own server. We can get a license for Live Communications Server, which I want to set up later next year, but have a need for a quick and dirty solution NOW.
I’ve got an open-source Windows Jabber server running, and we set a test group up with GAIM 1.50. I’m starting to get the hang of GAIM, and like it a little more than Trillian, my past favorite client. Trillian looks better, but their jabber support isn’t free.
Jabber looks promising - SSL support, clustering, multiple server architecture - maybe LCS might not get the nod after all…
