Food for thought

This was freedom. Losing all hope was freedom. ~Chapter 2
You buy furniture. You tell yourself, this is the last sofa I will ever need in my life. Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you’re satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you’ve got your sofa issue handled. [...]

Cheap Music

I’ve got an iPod Nano, but I’m tempted by the cheap MP3 players available. They’re basic — no display, so they have a shuffle-type interface. They use a single AAA battery. There’s no onboard memory, so you borrow the card from your camera.
This one is $15.99, can support up to a 2 gig SD card, [...]

I loaded Office 2003 on the system with some hesitation; I’d prefer to put a [...]

Wayback Machine Testing

In desktop support, I’m continually faced with people requesting upgrades because their computer is too slow; I hear everything from ROI analysis of time spent waiting for processes to complete, to needing a laptop in case Bird Flu strikes.
We’re in the midst of a cost-cutting phase at work. I decided that if I’m going to [...]
