I traded my Blackberry 7100t for a Blackberry Pearl, and I’m writing it up as I type this.

It’s definitely the sexiest Blackberry out there — small, uses SureType instead of a thumb keyboard, plays MP3s, and has a camera.

The Blackberry Pearl doesn’t have the OZ Internet Messenger client, but I’ve downloaded the Yahoo Messenger client for Blackberry and Ramble IM for AIM, which may be a better IM solution than the OZ client. The OZ client uses SMS instead of the Blackberry network, and unbeknownst to me, we’re changed for each individual SMS!

EDGE networking is MUCH faster than GPRS; I can surf the web, VPN, and use Outlook RPC over HTTP nicely. This could save quite a bit of $$$ in Verizon WAN cards we currently use.

Your 7100 was a “t” t-mobile model, is your pearl as well? Mine came with blackberry 4.2 software and OZ’s IM tool.

It isn’t found on the shortcut list avaiable from the trackball on the homepage. You have to press the application key and find it that way.

Glad I found out it uses SMS and not data! Time to buy a a real IM client that speaks jabber anyway.
