There’s a myriad of accessory camera programs for the iPhone, and a handful add a digital zoom option to your phone. I’ve never liked digital zoom; you may as well just crop the photo and zoom in post processing with your image editor of choice.

Now, Photojojo lets you connect any Nikon or Canon EF mount lens to your iPhone. I’d love to see the reach my 17-85 lens has when connected to my iPhone! And, there’s no more need for Instagram or other iPhone camera apps – now you can mount a Diana, Holga, or Lensbaby lens on our iPhone directly for toy camera goodness.

(editor’s note – you could get the same toy camera goodness with a $2, real toy camera and film. Remember Film?)

Two weeks ago I got this crazy idea in my head to find a ten year old 1.3 megapixel Leica Digilux and make a series of images with it based on lines people sent me from novels. Well, it’s done. It’s a 24 page booklet called The Day My Grandmother Exploded, a quote from Iain Banks “The Crow Road” suggested by Craig Zeni.

Three hundred people emailed quotes, I picked the first twenty. (Ed: Note – Me! Me! Me! I was one of the 20!)

Some of the images were obvious and popped right into my head, others sat around for a while and took more thought. Sometimes I’d repeat a few words over and over, close my eyes and try and see what materialized. It was a nifty adventure.

Intern Monkey [info]addieplum is mailing books out. I’d initially decided not to make more books than contributors but there was a very small over-run due to the fact that I have difficulty counting to twenty, so if you want one they’re $21.50, email me to check availability, first come, first served.

But, in other news, you can buy selected prints from the series here. They’re 4×6, suitable for your tiny apartment, bathroom wall, or fridge (not because I’m clever, but because that’s as big as 1.3 megapixels really wants to print.)

Really? I can get a print for $8.04??!!. Yes you can.

The best camera is the one you bring with you ALWAYS. I took this shot on my camera phone, while driving to a dinner date. My DSLR and my trusty LOMO were sitting at home.

It does feel odd to buy a $1.99 app to turn my $199 cameraphone into a $2 plastic camera, but there <<are>> benefits to going digital – for less than the cost of a roll of 120 film, I can shoot endless square format pictures.

I tried CameraBag, another fun photo manipulation app. This app doesn’t have the mind-mangling number of unintuitive film/lens combos that Hipstamatic has. I think I like it better.

The Camerabag filter names make more sense, at least – helga, lomo, 1974, fisheye.
